kent993 385 posts 80 months | Monday 27th November 2006 Couldn't resist buying 911 KAT, since those are my initials. I confess I do look at numberplates - there are some good ones around and they add interest to the duller patches of motorway crawling.

sleep envy said: Personalise plates?? waste of money I used to think that but when i got my 993c4 it had N198WPD on it. After a couple of years i got a short private plate with only 5 characters. Once fitted, not only did the car look much better - you could see more of painted bumpers instead of the plastic white and yellow, but it took the age off the car. Some people who didn't know Porsche's actually thought i had a new car when in fact it was 10 years old!!

aceparts_com 3112 posts 78 months | Monday 27th November 2006 I agree that a short ageless plate makes any car look factory fresh, although saying that my all time fave plate was on an old cortina about 15 years ago; EAT 561T (the 56 look like sh)

david hype 1144 posts 89 months | Tuesday 28th November 2006 I have 1995 car with an 1986/7 D plate relevant to my name. It only really means anything to people that know me or my business. I guess most people just think its quite shiny for a 20 year old car! I do think car or marque related plates look cool like RS, RSR, etc...

clarkeyjnr 382 posts 54 months | Tuesday 28th November 2006 I like the 'interesting' plates, but I can think of a million things I'd rather spend my muller on. That said, I couldn't get the vendor of my car to move further on the asking price, but he did end up throwing in a different plate. One of the A911 type. Its got my initials and a 'P' for Porsche after it so it kind of works (through blinkingly tight closed eyes and thick fog.....)

hoges11 935 posts 65 months | Tuesday 28th November 2006 Never liked them myself but bought a 964 with "C4FOO" as the plate and got used to it. Sold the car and kept the plate

19580 posts 98 months | Tuesday 28th November 2006 In favour of good legally spaced plates. ie names, words, low numbers, intials & 911 etc. Got to say though that when looking at some numberplate adverts, some of prices being asked are optimistic in the extreme. DAZ (Yes I may have bought one or two decent plates in the past, which unlike every car I have ever bought have not depreciated......)
