LuckyP 5487 posts 62 months | Friday 1st December 2006 My 2 peneth.... 1) Prefer car related than person related (looks a bit 'me! me!' with a name) 2) Short just looks better 3) If you think it will grow in value, bonus. 4) Don't pay too much - mine was £300 on ebay (and the obvious buzz) 5) Everyone has their own cheese threshold - go with what you are comfortable with. Lucky here's mine - I hope I have applied my own rules!

PH5121 697 posts 50 months | Friday 1st December 2006 Mine is four numbers and then my initails, better than a car related plate for me, as it has gone from car to car for the last 15 years. That said, a plate with 911 that has no prefix or suffix always looks good on a 911.

welshnobby 1178 posts 80 months | Friday 1st December 2006 I have this plate currently retention if anyone is interested. I bought it on a whim on ebay from regtransfers...they were having a clear out. It was a bargain. I put it on my old 996 but haven't put it on the GT2 as i thought it cheapened the car.
...BTW the pic was taken just before setting off to Le Mans last year hence the stickers.

I've had mine for years on plenty of cars. Cost me £250 and isn't worth anything to anyone else. Unless there are other Lee Field's that want the plate The only problem with it is that it is obviously mine when spotted. Bad for interviews etc etc etc

Hi there. I have stumbled across this site and was wondering if anybody has any ideas on selling ym reg plate. I have P911 UTG, which has a strategically placed black screw on the right hand side, thus giving it the appearance of UT"D" (ish!!) Now, I dont own a Porsche 911 and dont support Man UTD (its actually on a Kawasaki ZX7R!). Any advice.....d'ya think it may be worth some monies????? Thanks in advance.
ps, no abuse.....yeah i'm a biker but it doesnt make me a bad person, right?

I dont know. I suppose its because I see people all the time attempting to make words fit in this sad old world of vanity. And I have seen something on this very forum where someone has mentioned having 911 with whatever letters come after so thought it would be the best place to ask I suppose.
Anyway, is it worth selling....do you sort of people like this 911 plates stuff or shall I keep it on my own vehicle?
Jesus, was only a question mate. take a pill or something! lol.

If you were offered £200 for it, I'd take it!
Vanity plates are a bit M1 NGE! Especially the mis-spaced/silly font type ones.

This thread has made me blow off the dust on a plate I've got on retention certificate. If anybody is interested it's for sale. I'll put it in the classifieds shortly. If anyone wonders, the previous owner's initials were T Cz You never know, there might be a TC out there looking for a 911 plate

Both mine have 5 digit plates on. L2 PEY came with the beemer a while back and I just got used to it and carried it over. (Pub talk has been known to include 'I work long hours so there'll be Hell To Pay if I'm not home soon) Pork has just got my intials on. Best ones I've seen include the 2 BE and NOT 2 BE and TRY 1T on a Ferrari. Oh, and on a rusty old white pick-up G1 PSY - Maidenhead about 3 weeks ago

Not keen on dodgy spacing between letters/numbers but I'm onto my second plate with three letters/three numbers. 3+3 looks 'neater' in my opinion but as I don't have a middle name a 2+1,2,3 plate would cost too much for me !! My letters just caught me eye when I scanned through the hundreds of pages on the number plate websites..............

Personal number plates are just that - personal - and, as with most things, there's no accounting for taste. Agree with the general sentiment though: - The shorter the better - Mis-spacing, deforming letters/numerals, mainly looks naff - Names mainly look naff - Anything obscure/needs explaining, is naf - Exceptions are anything comical, such as the drain cleaner above - Of course there are cheap plates and expensive plates - and it normally shows
